*From the
Maui Fresh Fish Team:
Our mission is to operate an efficient and responsible open
ocean aquaculture enterprise to benefit the company's
stakeholders and further an industry that seeks to provide
a sustainable source of exceptional quality seafood in a
time of limited supply and ever increasing demand. Embodied
in our mission statement is everything that we see as
essential to a successful aquaculture industry.
*Responsibility:
Responsibility to the stakeholders of the company includes
members of the company, members of the community, the
environment, the industry, and our customers. A successful
aquaculture enterprise cannot dutifully serve one of these
groups without serving all of them. Being mindful of this
responsibility will lead to the highest quality product.
*Quality:
An open ocean aquaculture enterprise that does not produce
a quality product will not survive in the long run. More
information than ever has been made available about the
health and quality of different seafoods; open ocean
aquaculture must produce the highest quality seafood
available to be competitive.
*Sustainability:
The fish that live in our planet's oceans can only be
considered a renewable resource if managed in a sustainable
manner. A sustainable aquaculture industry must be
constantly mindful of its environmental footprint. Most
importantly, operations must take care not to interfere
with wild populations of marine life. Disrupting the
natural balance of the ocean will rob aquaculture of its
future potential to satisfy the world's seafood demands.
